Recordkeeping Training

The State Records Office provides archival and records management services to all State and Local Government agencies in Western Australia. To assist agencies in the proper creation, management and disposal of State records the State Records Office provides training in various facets of recordkeeping.

Training courses are provided, at minimal cost, in areas of most benefit to officers in the management of recorded information throughout the public sector. To ensure that the courses offered are relevant to the needs of public sector records and information managers the State Records Office conducts an annual training survey prior to the development of each Training Calendar. The Training Calendar is revised each financial year based on responses to the annual training survey sent to all government agencies.

Officers from all levels across government are encouraged to attend the courses. The courses are also available to Commonwealth agencies, the private sector, and students. Specialists in the field including staff of the State Records Office conduct the training.

Training courses are available to Western Australian metropolitan, country and regional areas on request. Phone the State Records Office on (08) 9427 3661.

Training Course Descriptions

Training courses offered differ from year to year. Our Recordkeeping Training Course Descriptions page provides brief descriptions on the types of training courses that have been provided in the past.

Customised Training

The State Records Office of Western Australia recognises that due to the immense size of this State the cost involved for agencies to send individual officers to Perth for training may be prohibitive. The State Records Office will endeavour to send staff to regional centres to present training courses upon request. To assist agencies in gaining maximum benefit from training being presented in their regions guidelines have been prepared.

Customised training can also be arranged for metropolitan government agencies who wish to arrange for one or more tailored training sessions specifically for their agency's staff.

A copy of the Customised Training Guidelines can be found on our Customised Training Guidelines page.
