State Records Act tenth anniversary

 At its recent meeting, on 2 December, 2011, the State Records Commission (SRC) noted that the State Records Act 2000 came into full operation on 1 December 2001, making this the month of the Act’s tenth anniversary.  Since the proclamation of the Act the SRC has produced eight recordkeeping standards, covering both physical and electronic recordkeeping, and has introduced a comprehensive recordkeeping regime throughout State and local government, which sets an enviable precedent within Australasia. To celebrate the Act and this, its tin anniversary, we delved into the State archives Lise Summers Wednesday, December 7, 2011 - 14:49

UNESCO adopts the Universal Declaration on Archives

On 7th November 2011 the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) adopted the Universal Declaration on Archives, proposed by the International Congress of Archives. It is the culmination of intense efforts led by Papa Momar Diop, the Ambassador of Senegal at UNESCO and the former National Archivist of Senegal, supported by Jens Boel, Head Archivist at UNESCO, and activists in the ICA network throughout the world.

National Recycling Week - Recycle Responsibly

'Eating the Archives' at the Perth Royal Show

Perth Royal Show visitors will have the chance to enter a draw for a place at the Eating the Archives luncheon on 28 October 2011 - one of the highlights of the Commonwealth Festival Perth 2011 program. A promotional bookmark indicating the Eating the Archives website and also with a Quick Response (QR) code to direct those with smart phones to information about the event has been produced and is available at the the Department of Agriculture and Food display in the Centenary Pavilion at this week’s Perth Royal Show.
