New administrative arrangements for the SRO

Administrative arrangements affecting the State Library of Western Australia and State Records Office

With effect from 1 July 2017 as a part of the Machinery of Government changes, the State Records Office (SRO) has administratively become part of the State Library of Western Australia (SLWA). There are no changes to the legislation of either organisation.

Although administratively placed within the State Library as a Directorate, the State Archivist’s statutory responsibilities are set out in the Act and remain unchanged. Similarly, all State Records Office requirements on behalf of the State Records Commission are unaffected.

There will be no disruption to services and clients of the State Records Office and State Library will continue to access their respective collections and services via the existing arrangements and their respective websites - and Should you have any questions regarding this change, please direct your enquiries to or
