New Research Space for State Archives

From Monday 20 July 2020 the State Records Office WA and State Library of WA have co-located research spaces (including search and reading rooms) on the 3rd floor of the State Library - the J.S. Battye Library of West Australian History at the Alexander Library Building.

Many of our customers use both the Battye Library and State Records Office (Search Room) regularly; and co-locating these services enables researchers interested in the history, environment, development, identity and culture of Western Australia to access relevant archival material from a single location.

The scope of the project has been limited to a change in location of the State Records Office Search Room only.

No changes to the respective roles and responsibilities of the State Records Office and State Library and their staff are planned.

For more updates on the new research space, which is jointly managed by the State Records Office and State Library, please see Twitter and Facebook.
