Margaret Medcalf Award 2007
The Award honours Margaret Medcalf, the second State Archivist, for her valuable contribution to the development of archives in Western Australia. It recognizes excellence in referencing and research. Works nominated for the award must demonstrate use of the State archives collection, held by the State Records Office. Nominated works need not be published, may be fiction or non-fiction, and in any media. Copies of shortlisted works may be requested for presentation to the judging panel.
The presentation of the Margaret Medcalf Award will be held on
THURSDAY 3rd May 2007 at 3pm in the Theatrette, Alexander Library Building.

W.S. Lonnie Awards for Annual Reports - State Records Commission Award for Reporting on Recordkeeping Compliance - Call for nominations.
This award was established in 2006 jointly by the State Records Commission (SRC) and the Institute of Public Administration Australia (IPAA) as a Special Category of IPAA WA W.S. Lonnie awards for Annual Reports. Lonnie awards recognize excellence in annual reporting by the public sector and the SRC award aims to recognize excellence in reporting by State government organisations on compliance with their Recordkeeping Plans (RKPs).
Judging criteria for the Award are based on the minimum compliance requirements laid out in SRC Standard 2 – Principle 6 - Compliance. These are:

the efficiency and effectiveness of the agency's recordkeeping systems is evaluated not less than once every five years;
-
the agency conducts a recordkeeping training program;
-
the efficiency and effectiveness of the recordkeeping training program is reviewed from time to time;
-
the agency's induction program addresses employees' roles and responsibilities in regard to their compliance with the agency's recordkeeping plan.
A statement indicating how the agency is meeting these requirements must be included in the Annual Report.
Agencies wishing to nominate for this award should do so by emailing sro@sro.wa.gov.au, attaching a copy of the relevant section of their 2006 Annual Report, by Wednesday, 28 February, 2007.
