The COVID-19 Pandemic is a significant event in world history and the Western Australian State and local governments’ responses is likely to be of historical and research interest.
Now that work places are returning to a ‘new’ normal and staff may be returning to the office, it is important that all relevant records of information are managed in line with the organisation’s Recordkeeping Plan and retained and disposed of appropriately.
The following document has ben produced by the State Records Office as a guide to dealing with records produced during the COVID-19 Pandemic.
COVID-19 Contact / Attendance registers are not covered in the General Disposal Authority for Local Government and the General Disposal Authority for State Government, therefore an Ad Hoc Disposal Authority has been developed especially for these registers for use by both State and local government organisations. The Ad Hoc Disposal Authority is being presented for approval at the State Records Commission (SRC) meeting on Friday 7 August 2020. All State and local government organisations will be notified of is approval in due course.
As the WA State of Emergency Directions are still in force, the registers cannot be destroyed at this stage.
