Draft Directions for Keeping State Archives Awaiting Transfer

The State Records Office (SRO) is pleased to call for comment as part of the external stakeholder consultation phase on the proposed document–

Under Section 32 of the State Records Act 2000, agencies are required to transfer archives to the State Records Office, unless their Recordkeeping Plan says otherwise.  However, under Section 32(4), where the Director of State Records is unable to accept transfers of State archives from a State organization, the Director must provide directions as to how the archives must be kept until transfer can take place.

Agencies are invited to comment on the draft document as part of the consultation process.

The period for feedback closes on 2 March 2009.  Agencies are requested to provide written comment, and to clearly identify the specific document and section of the document, to which the comments refer.
