Restricted Records
Due to the sensitive nature of some of the material held within the State Records Office, access restrictions apply to some archives. Access restrictions are authorised by the State Records Commission under the terms of the State Records Act 2000.
The access status of archives held by the State Records Office is noted in AEON.
Clients wishing to access archives subject to a restricted access status can do so on application to the administering government agency. Authority to grant permission to access restricted records lies with the agency responsible for creating the records.
The State Records Office can advise and assist clients with this process. Application forms for access to restricted records are available from the Search Room Enquiry Desk upon request.
