Photographic Orders
Where it is not possible to photocopy material, clients may have the option of purchasing a photographic hard line negative of the material.
Black and white photographic negatives are available at a cost of $11.00 (includes GST) per image, in either one of two formats:
- 35mm perforated format - while the film is not actually perforated (like the photographic film used in SLR cameras), space is left along the sides to allow the film to be placed in regular processing equipment for development. Using this format, prints can be obtained from "instant print" photographic outlets, however the quality of the image is not as sharp as that of the unperforated format.
- 35mm unperforated format - this is the standard format for producing microfilm negatives. The image on this format is larger and therefore of better quality. However, prints will need to be obtained from a professional photographic outlet, as the image is too large to print using "instant print" equipment.
To obtain a photographic negative, clients must complete an order form (available from the Search Room Enquiry Desk), nominating their choice of perforated or unperforated format. Payment must be made in advance.
Approximately 10 working days should be allowed for the processing of photographic negatives.
NOTE: The negative only is supplied. Clients will need to arrange for photographs to be printed from the negative.
For more information on ordering photographic negatives contact the State Records Office Enquiry Desk staff either by telephone on (08) 9427 3360, via email at sro@sro.wa.gov.au or in person.
