Community Seminars
Periodically the State Records Office holds community seminars designed to provide an introduction for new clients, to help them better understand how to access the vast range of historical material contained within the collection. An annual program of lunchtime seminars, known as Sandwich or Lunchtime Seminars, is available, or clients may request a specific seminar or presentation.
The seminars are presented by State Records Office staff or by researchers and clients with experience using the State archives collection. The seminars usually consist of a series of short talks on different areas of the collection, followed by brief question and answer sessions. These lunchtime seminars are held between 12.30pm and 1:30 on the dates stated on the program and are free of charge. The seminars are usually held in the South West Room (Ground Floor) of the Alexander Library Building, but are also sometimes held on other venues.
Bookings are essential and can be made at the State Records Office Enquiry desk or on ph. 9427 3360 in the fortnight prior to seminar.
The State Records Office also welcomes suggestions for further seminar themes, as well as offers to present a seminar.
