Client Copy Centre

On Wednesday, 1 August, 2007 the State Records Office introduced a new service - the Client Copy Centre. This service replaces our current photocopy service, and will provide better access to copies by researchers, allow a greater range of materials to be copied (including volumes), and provide better protection for archival materials.

The Centre consists of a camera, copy-stand and PC, and is similar to the facilities used by the National Archives for the Digitisation on Demand program. SRO provides even greater access by allowing clients to use this equipment for themselves.

Using the Client Copy Centre, you can take images of archival material (subject, of course, to copyright provisions and the fragility of the record), and save the images to a portable USB device (flash or thumbdrive) or burn to a CD. You will then be able to print these images off at your leisure, at home or work, or through a commercial copying service such as OfficeWorks.

If you are already using a camera to take copies, you will of course be welcome to continue to use your own camera.

If you have any queries about this service, please do not hesitate to ask the staff on Desk or send an email sro@sro.wa.gov.aul.
